I recommend non-prescription Lithium orotate in 5 mg capsules,  one or two caps, one to three times a day. This differs from prescription lithium carbonate which comes in 300 mg tablets, and dosage is 3-6 tablets a day equal to 900 to 1800 mg per day, used to treat bipolar illness. Prescription lithium carbonate requires periodic blood testing for lithium toxicity, while for the low dose lithium orotate, no toxicity testing is required. That’s one of the reasons it is so safe.  It is a naturally occurring trace mineral that we need for good brain health. In fact in areas where it is low in the water supply there is more violence, whereas in areas where it’s plentiful, people are more calm, with less crime, suicide, and violence.  A good review article on the use of lithium ornate is in Dr. Jeffrey Dach’s newsletter: http://jeffreydachmd.com/2015/12/lithium-orotate-the-great-protector/
